Indo by Design was born from a deep, personal love for a country that never stopped surprising its founder.

More than a decade ago, a first encounter with Indonesia changed everything. Not just because of its landscapes or its beauty, but because its complexity. Its cultres, its contrasts, its warmth, and the extraordinary diversity that unfolds the further you travel from the well-worn path. What began as curiosity slowly became something much deeper.

Over eleven years of extensive travel across the archipelago, from temples of Java and the rice terraces of Bali to the remote rainforests of Kalimantan, the volcanic highlands of Sumatra, and the pristine water of Raja Ampat and the Banda Islands, Indonesia revealed itself slowly and endlessly. The places most travellers never reach. The experiences that rarely make it into guidebooks. A country that, it turns out, is not a destination you can fully know. It is one you keep returning to.

And eventually, returning was no longer enough. Indonesia become home.

Living here changed the way of seeing this country entirely. From the inside, its rhythyms, its everyday life, its local knowledge, and its hidden richness became familiar. So did the way its richness is so often misunderstoon or reduced to clichés, and how much there is to discover when journeys are designed with genuine care, deep respect, and real local knowledge.
